The School of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Management (SHSS&M), established in 2009, represents an interdisciplinary convergence of humanistic disciplines with technical fervour of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar. With 19 faculty members and over 75 research scholars, the school offers academic courses for B.Tech degree and programs such as integrated BSc.-B.Ed. degree in Economics (ITEP), and Ph.D. in four major disciplines— Economics, English, Psychology, and Philosophy. Along with these diverse academic departments, the school is home to a wide variety of interdisciplinary collaborations, path-breaking research projects, and unique areas of study. Specifically, the school fosters research in areas such as language, literature, economics, finance, psychological behavior, Indian philosophy, ethics, and related fields to build students’ communicative, analytical, cultural competencies and more. We also provide laboratory facilities such as ICLDB lab for research in Economics, the Language Lab—a 64 seater multimedia-based learning space enabling English-speaking and presentation skills, and a Psychology lab which has a 32-channel Electroencephalogram (EEG) and Wechsler’s Intelligence Scale (WAIS) for research purposes.
